For the past few years, winter has left much to be desired. In fact, I was beginning to give up on skiing which was a sad thing to consider since it is something I grew up doing. More depressing was that Samantha was getting to the age where she wouldn't have the young muscle memory that makes skiing so much more enjoyable later in life, if she picked it up at all. True, we had a fantastic trip to Boise, but what makes a confident and safe skier is repetition. You just have to put the slope time in. With the snowpack 190% of average, I figured it was now or never--we had to make the effort this year. And effort we made! Thanks to the Whelpleys who hosted us many times at the
Peninsula Ski Club, I re-discovered that there are like-minded people who believe that skiing should not cost $1,000 for a day and $700/night for accommodations. The PSC experience has reinvigorated my outlook on trips to Tahoe. With any luck, we'll be members next year!
Anyhow, here are some random pictures from a few of our trips this winter...

| They were attempting to make the world's largest banana split at Tahoe Donner, but the weather was too lousy on the deck, so they just make little ones and gave them away to everybody inside. This was a heaping serving and the first time I ever witnessed Samantha not finish her dessert! |
