BIG time Lake Living!

Samantha was lucky enough to spend 2 whole weeks in Canada on Lake Memphremagog. It is part of her heritage. She is a 5th generation Memphrema-gal after all! Parents spend thousands of dollars to send their kids to camp to experience everything she did which was all right outside our front door; and free. Someday she will realize how lucky she is to have access to such a special place. Actually, I think she already has...
There are many highlights to her trip, but one of her biggest accomplishments had to have been climbing Owl's Head (elevation 2,470 ft.) all on her own steam.
Summit Shot! The final bribery tally was 8 ice cream scoops.
"We paddled canoes to and from the base from our place which is way over there."

Aunt Tam, Uncle Rhett, Gran Tigre & Jungle Judi pausing for a water break.
Never leave home without your bug net. How else are you going to catch frogs on the trail?
Trekking through a field of flowers.

Embarking on a canoe camping trip.

She didn't paddle the whole time.

Out campsite. Yes, the Budweiser was just a prop.

Getting ready to roast hot dogs for dinner.

Nothing says summertime camping  like Smores for breakfast. She even put some marshmallow in her hair for later.

BAXTER Rock

Deceptively high above the water

We did some exploring once camp was set up

Who's on belay?

In the granite crags

Building a giant jacuzzi

Stompin' around

A little light dock work. Child labor laws are very generous in Canada.

Don't tell mom, but Samantha did not go near the shower or bath for 2 whole weeks. That is because she spent every day in the lake.

Hiking in the woods.

The zip line Sammie and Uncle Rhett made.

She tried waterskiing for the first time. Certainly by next summer she'll be on one ski cuttin' n' jumpin' and tossing up a giant rooster tail!

Ramming Speed! Aboard the S.S. Bloody Mary with Aunt Tam

She caught several fish with her dip net.

Relaxing in the tall grass at the top of Pudding Hill.

There's Owl's Head!

It's hard to tell where Rhett's hair ends and the grass begins...

Another great canoe destination.

The cover shot for Mermaid Magazine

Snack time with Ines

Zipline in Action!

She exceeded her summer reading list requirements by a long shot!

Come on in the water's fine!

Every decomposing log we found in the forest we kicked into pieces in order to catch the salamanders inside. Samantha though this was a great sport.

Swimming with Lia.

Catching baby fish. It is wonderful to see Sammie become friends with all the children of the kids I used to spend my summers with. And so the generations grind on...

"Can't you guys paddle faster?"

"more snacks please!"

Calm waters make for fantastic paddling.

Home

Getting ready to go touring with the Vosinek's

Doing the backstroke with the other Memphrema-gals

Nappin' with Nami

See you next time!
